Member of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum Board of Directors: “NGOs from Nagorno Karabakh will not be able to separately participate in the forum”

NGOs from Nagorno Karabakh can not participate at the annual meeting of “Eastern Partnership” Civil Society Forum in Moldova in October. The Forum Board of Directors has passed a decision on this, member of the Board of Directors of “Eastern Partnership” Civil Society Forum, coordinator of National Platform on Azerbaijan Gubad Ibadoglu told APA.

Ibadoglu said that the Board of Directors of “Eastern Partnership” Civil Society Forum held a meeting in Yerevan on April 4-5: “I am the only member representing Azerbaijan in the Board of Directors. Azerbaijan was not represented at the meeting, as I did not attend it. Discussions were held at the meeting on holding the annual meeting of the forum. It was decided to hold the annual meeting in Moldova’s capital Chișinău on October 4-5. Participation of civil society organizations of conflict areas at that meeting was also discussed. It was suggested to create a group called “Eastern Partnership regions” and involve the NGOs from Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria. Since I did not attend the meeting as a member of the Board of Directors, the decision was not passed.”

Ibadoglu said that this proposal was discussed by the Forum National Platform on Azerbaijan on April 16 and it was decided that Nagorno Karabakh is a territory of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the NGOs from Nagorno Karabakh can be represented only with the Azerbaijani delegation: “We have submitted this decision to the Board of Directors of the Forum and the organization has approved the decision of the National Platform.”
