“There’s a third force behind the recent mosque provocations in Georgia’s predominantly Azerbaijani-populated areas”, Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizaions, said in an interview to APA.
M.Gurbanli said whom he means by a “third force” is Armenians and other groups that are seeking to damage Georgia-Azerbaijan relations.
“With such provocations, those groups are trying to create religious confrontation in Georgia. We think the Azerbaijanis living in Georgia as well as Azerbaijani speakers of the Georgian Parliament and our religious representatives there must notice these provocations well and they do. As a nation, we are patient and we demonstrate our patience”, he stressed.
M. Gurbanli said he also thoroughly discussed this matter in his meeting with the Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan: “Furthermore, we will invite the head of a department which has recently been created in Georgia for religious affairs to Azerbaijan and have a private meeting with him too. Right now, the Georgian side tells us the country’s law enforcement bodies are aware these events and relevant measures will soon be taken”.
