Extraordinary meeting of the leaders of migration bodies’ council of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held May 16 in Minsk, press service of the CIS Executive Committee stated.
Project of the Convention about legal status of CIS working migrants and members of their families will be discussed at the meeting. The document prepared with the participation of the General Trade Unions’ Confederation passed several improvements and discussions, at the final expert meeting was submitted to approval.
The principal aim of the convention is to create the same living and working condition for working migrants and members of their families with those of that country’s citizens. Adoption of the document will open a new stage of cooperation in the protection of migrants’ rights and interests in the territory of all states of the Union, balancing migration stream of the population and realizing CIS member states’ Declaration on the approved migration policy.
