““Caucasian Stability Pact” proposed by the prime minister, Rajab Tayyip Erdogan is not a right initiative”, Onur Oymen, deputy chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and MP from Bursa stated to APA, Turkish bureau. He stated that it was not right time to make this initiative. “How will they establish stability in Caucuses when 20% of Azerbaijani territories are under Armenian occupation; how will they bring these countries together? It is impossible to bring Georgia and Russia together when there are so tense relations between them. For us, Turkey has to work over the liberation of Azerbaijani territories in Caucasia now. First of all the government has to explain it to the West, seriously support territorial integrity of Georgia. It is not right to initiate a pact that will strengthen Russia’s influence in the region instead of settling these problems”. Onur Oymen emphasized that government’s initiative didn’t answer to NATO’s interest. “This initiative is contrary to NATO’s interest – the organization where we are member for 56 years. Today many things happen beyond Armenia’s will in the Turkey-Armenian relations. I don’t think that Armenia will step back from its groundless claims against Turkey and as for me, “Caucasian Stability Pact” can’t be realized”.
