According to ANCA (Armenian National Committee of America) answering the question came by Robert Wexler, the Chairman of Sub Committee on Europe, how the State Secretary will lead the course of rapprochement of Turkey and Armenia, PH. Gordon answered that, the State Secretary of the US welcomes the achievement of road map between Armenia and Turkey, noting that there is an article in the document which was not talked over in public, is the article of establishing the Armenian – Turkish Commission of historians.
“The dialog between Armenia and Turkey and the process of regulation of Nagorna Karabagh conflict is two different and parallel processes. Gordon also noted that Turkey and Armenia came into agreement for relative base for the normalization of Turkish – Armenian relations, which will include the opening of boundaries, the establishment of diplomatic relations, and also establishment of joint commission as well as historical one”.
