According to information given from Ombudsman Office, Commissioner on the human rights, Elmira Suleymanov, met with Rapporter of PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population, British MP John Greenway, who is in visit in Azerbaijan. During the conversation, Ombudsman E. Suleymanova stated that as a result of military aggression of Armenia, 20 percent of Azerbaijan lands were occupied and human rights of one million of Azeris’ were roughly breached, and they became refugees and internal displaced persons in their own lands. She gave extended information about programs realized in protection of rights of refugees and IDPs’ and stressed that there is special structure department and special Counselor dealing with the protection of rights of refugees and IDPs’.
J. Greenway stressed that the cooperation with Azerbaijan is very important, and the objective of his visit to Azerbaijan is get closely acquainted with the problems of refugees and IDPs’ in Azerbaijan and he said he will take into consideration the proposals and recommendations when writing his report. He also mentioned that, the migration problem is very global.
Ombudsman answered to numerous questions of the PACE rapporter on the problems of refugees, and IDP’s.
