Turkey receives first transport aircraft A-400M for its Air Force

Turkey has received the first transport aircraft А-400М from Spain for its Air Force, Turkish Anadolu news agency reported.
The plane landed at Kayseri-Erkilet airport in central Turkey.
Ankara has requested ten such planes. Initially, Turkey was expected to receive the first plane in December 2013.
А-400М is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft engineered by the Airbus Military company by the request of seven European countries, such as Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Turkey and France. The project cost about 25 billion euros. The aircraft can carry up to 37 tons of cargo, including helicopters, armored vehicles and personnel, to a distance of 3,300 kilometers. It is also able to refuel in the air and can land at unprepared unpaved sites.
The first A-400M was received for the French Air Force in August, 2013. To date, the French military possesses two such transporters.
