Historic facts about Garabagh
(beginning in the previous issues)
Iran-Russia wars (1804-1813, 1826-1828) and Turkey-Russia wars (1806-1812, 1828-1829) played the major role in migration of Armenians into Garabagh. During these wars Armenians living in Turkey and Iran held traitorous position towards their governments and took the side of Russian forces. Grouping into armed bands they fulfilled instructions of Russian military command, made strokes from back front to Iranian and Turkish forces, organized insurgencies and massacred local people. These Armenian armed bands were supplied by weapons from Russian army. Thus, Armenian leaders hoped to gain the support of Russia and create an autonomous or independent state on the territory of Turkey or Iran. But their dreams did not come true. They feared to be punished for the treachery of interests of Turkey and Iran and expressed their desire to move to territory of the Russian empire after the end of wars. This also coincided with the interests of Russia. Russia aimed to create a stronghold by support of Armenians resettled into recently occupied South Caucasus, including Azerbaijan.
Turkmenchay treaty signed between Russia and Iran in 1828 and the agreement between Russia and Turkey signed in 1829 in Edirne became the juridical base for migration of Armenians into Azerbaijan. Thus, mass migration of Armenians into Azerbaijan, to Garabagh in particular, had started. Local population in Garabagh resisted settlement of Armenians on the best lands and to arrival of Armenians as a whole. However, they failed to reach any results. Russian forces mercilessly repressed any resistance. Representatives of local population of Garabagh repeatedly appealed to A.S.Griboyedov, Ambassador of Russia in Iran claiming to stop resettlement of Armenians. The Russian ambassador, who controlled resettlement of Armenians, calmed down the people assuring them that these resettlements have temporary nature and Armenians will not stay there forever and will be moved to Russia. On the other side, A.S.Griboyedov was quite familiar with nature of Armenians and he wrote to the emperor of Russia: “Your Excellency, in case if you permit Armenians to settle in Central Russian territories. They are such a tribe that upon living a few years in those areas, they will announce to a whole world that those are the lands of their ancestors”. The Russian government clearly understood the nature of Armenians and successfully used them in their long-term plans against Azerbaijan Turks and neighboring Georgians.
At the start of XIX century the Russian government organized the first flows of Armenians from Iran and Turkey into Garabagh. As a result, Russians included Armenians together with Grigorian Albans into their first statistic data. For the first time it was shown in statistical book compiled by Russian military command in 1823. According to the book, only 1559 families from 18563 families lived on the territory of present Garabagh were Armenians and Grigorian Albans. Figures once more displayed that the major part of population on these lands prior to “great migration” constituted Azerbaijani Turks. Some period later Russian government initiated mass migration of Armenians into Azerbaijan and Garabagh in particular. According to official data, in 1828-1830, i.e. during two years only in Azerbaijan, including Garabagh there were resettled 40 thousand Armenians from Iran and 84 thousand Armenians from Turkey. These are just the official data. In various sources of the period there are sufficient amount of data indicating that Armenians migrated illegally, secretly. According to evaluations of experts for indicated two years over 200 thousand Armenians migrated into Azerbaijan. Into Garabagh the Armenians moved generally from Iran. This was due to short distance to border and absence of proper border guarding. On the other hand, Russian military deployed on the border did not create any serious hurdles to illegally migrating Armenians. In most cases Armenians migrated by whole villages and while settling on new lands gave them names of Iranian villages. Despite that later they are attempted to correct their “mistakes”, names of the most villages are evidencing about their migration from Iran.

Armenians Seek Free Handouts from the Christian World
The U.S. Congress passed a 100-million-dollar funding law in February 1919. These funds were to be spent to help “non-enemy countries as well as the Armenians, Syrians, Greeks, and other Christian and Jewish populations of Asia Minor, now or formerly subjects of Turkey” (P 138 from the book of Hovannissian).
The anti-Turk, anti-Muslim lobby had done its work well with Congress. Such attitudes continue to this day, in spite of the fact that more Turks suffered at the hands of the Armenians than Armenians suffered at the hands of the Turks. Both sides of the story of this tragic war were never presented to the people of the United States. The reason was simple – Armenia is a Christian nation while Turkey was not. It was not necessary to tell Americans that the Armenians brought their troubles on themselves by attempting to overthrow the Ottoman government.
Up to the last quarter of 1919, government sponsored and private American relief operations provided the Armenian people food and supplies valued in excess of 20 million dollars. More than half this sum, especially the share given directly to the Armenian republic, was financed through the American Relief Administration. Both ARA and ACRNE assistance was coordinated by Herbert Hoover as Director General of Relief. For each ARA shipment, the Armenian government issued promissory notes to be deposited in the United States Treasury, whereas the ACRNE contributions were the direct gifts of the American people to the Armenian people (P 12).
It is a matter of national honor for a country to pay its debts. For a nation to fail to pay what it owes is to become known as a “dead-beat country”. Armenia must fall into the class of a dishonorable country because at no time over the past more than eighty-two years has one red cent been repaid by Armenia as to what it owes to the United States.
In late 2001, a House subcommittee of the U.S. Congress voted to give Armenia another bunch of American taxpayer dollars – 90 million to be exact. Why are American politicians giving such massive amounts of dollars to this tiny country? It’s past time to find answers and stop giving the big bucks to this gang of murderers who call themselves the Republic of Armenia. After all, the very “ethnic cleansing” (of Muslims in Azerbaijan and Georgia) is called “ethnic principle” by them, isn’t it.
In 1919, the Armenians were lobbying for obtaining free land from sea to sea. This is what the Armenians wanted:
…It was recommended that a separate country of that name be established and placed under the guidance of the League of Nations. The boundaries of the new state were clearly “fixed by nature”, the Anti-Taurus Mountains in the west and the Taurus Mountains in the south being “topographical features of the first ran”. Armenia would gather in the Cilician region with Adana and the Mediterranean outlet, Trebizond with its Black Sea harbors and the six Turkish Armenian provinces except for the districts south of the Taurus and west of the Anti-Taurus. To these lands would be added the Russian Armenian provinces of Kars and Yerevan and the counties of Akhaltsikh (not officially claimed by the Armenian republic) and Akhalkalak. The Armenian problem, it was admitted, was “singularly difficult” since within the borders as delineated the Armenians was everywhere a minority, constituting not more than 30 or 35 percent of the population. Consequently a liberal interpretation of self-determination was required (P 265).

National Heroes of Azerbaijan
Living example of courage, bravery and patriotism
One of these days he was executed exactly 55. Eighteen years from this worthy life he has devoted to military science: at first on fight fields for the Native land, and then – work on education of young generation of patriots-military men.
Vahid Habibulla oglu Guliyev was born Sept. 20, 1955 in the Gumlag village of Jebrail district of Azerbaijan, but his childhood was spent in the Niyazgulular village of the same area. In 1972 has left secondary school in the Hadjikend village of Zangilan district. For two years has worked on economic work in the Niyazgulular village, and in 1974 was called to the valid military service in the ranks of former Soviet Army, which took place in Kazakhstan and the Russian city of Obninsk. After demobilization, in 1976, Vahid entered to the physical faculty of Azerbaijan State University. Having finished study in high school in 1981 and received a speciality of the physicist, in this direction he has been sent in Faradjan village of Lachin district where has worked as a teacher of physics for three years.
In 1984, V.Guliyev has moved to the capital of the republic – to Baku city, and accepted on the post of chief of the industry on a machine tool constructing factory “Azon”. 8 years he worked here excellent, was happy with the work, and the factory collective loved and respected him. But Armenians haven’t allowed to the young man to continue the favorite work…
The notorious Armenian “movement” on tearing away of Nagorno-Karabakh from Azerbaijan has outgrown by this time in the undeclared war of Armenia against the country. In such a situation, Vahid, ardently loving the country and the people, thus the officer, couldn’t stand aside from the protection of the Native land in any way. In August 1992 he was in Yasamal District (Baku), the military commissariat, and enlisted in the ranks of combat units of the National Army of Azerbaijan. And after a few days was in Aghdam, where at that time was violent fighting.
During the first battle, which had joined Vahid, he destroyed one enemy fighting techniques than was prevented another attack of the armed Armenian gangs. The bravery, fearlessness and ability of correct action taking into account a concrete situation, he has shortly got respect among companions on fight.
October 14 V.Guliyev has been sent in Gubadly, where there was extremely a difficult situation. And here he fought bravely, putting a notable loss to the enemy side and destroying several military vehicles and tens of manpower.
After active participation in numerous fighting operations, 28 February 1994 he returned to the Agdam region. Since the beginning of participation in fights and about the day of coming into force of a mode of cease-fire, Vahid, as they say, without a respite fought with aggressive forces of Armenia, has turned for this period directly to the chastener of the Armenian insurgents and has put out of action ten units of enemy armor combat material, including eight tanks and two infantry fighting vehicles (ICV).
From 1996 to August 2000, V.Guliyev was a professor of military faculty of Baku State University, and from September of that year to October 2002 worked as a senior lecturer at the Baku Higher Military School, after which he was demobilized from the army.
Two children grow in a family of Vahid.
On October 9, 1994, Vahid Habubulla oglu Guliyev was posthumously conferred the honorary title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan.
Currently, Lieutenant-Colonel V.Guliyev teaches at the training center of Azerbaijan Air Force and is a living example of courage, bravery and patriotism.

Next “tourist tour” co-chairs
and gradually growing tension
For the first time, in the last decade the activity of co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (MG), decided to get in Khankendi (Stepanakert), crossing the line of contact of the Armenian-Azerbaijani armies, that is, as well as demands that corresponding norms and rules.
Co-Chairs of the MG OSCE Robert Bradtke (USA), Igor Popov (Russia) and Bernard Fassier (France) after a visit to Baku, 8 September this year, with the assistance of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman Andrzej Kasprzyk, as well as military representatives from both sides crossed the line of contact Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani territories and return to Khankendi. This fact can truly be called an event, as noted Fassier, because it should have been from the very beginning of the mission MG. With what this overdue step of cochairmen, what its value and what nuances is connected reveals?
In the interview to the Azerbaijan service of BBC radio MG U.S. Co-Chair R.Bradtke has thrown light on some issues arising from the aforementioned mission of the given group. Diplomat, first of all noted: “When we were preparing a program to advance the Karabakh peace talks, we decided to do much. To cross the line of contact was one of these plans.” The co-chair said crossing the line of contact of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops had several reasons: “We wanted to do it because of several reasons. First of all we wanted to underline that the line of contact is not a border separating the neighboring nations. We wanted to express our hope that one day the peoples of both sides will be able to cross the line of contact. Our second aim was to check the reports about the violation of the ceasefire. Another goal of crossing the line of contact was to underline the necessity of respecting the ceasefire….”. Of course, R.Bradtke rights, the boundary line lies far away, between Armenia and Azerbaijan and, of course, the day will come when local residents – citizens of Azerbaijan – will move freely in these areas. By the way, even before R.Bradtke, being in Khankendi, the French co-chairman Bernard Fassier at the answer to a question of the journalist has especially underlined: “We have not crossed the border and the line of contact. That’s what I can say. We will demonstrate that it is not bound”. And this objective answer too has angered the Armenian party which has made the protest at all official and informal levels.
But back to the interview with American co-chair and mark in connection with the second and third goals set forth by him that this “verification of information on violations of the cease-fire” is clearly not good, because knowing about the action of transition co-chairs of the contact line forces, not consciously go in violation of the armistice to avoid further accusations by the international affairs. And then, for the Armenian side, their “spoiled child”, absolutely no value has no underscore some kind of “the importance of respect for the ceasefire”.
The co-chair said they had held talks on both sides of the line of contact: “These were very interesting talks, as both sides gave contradicting reports about the situation, especially concerning the responsibility for the violation of ceasefire. I understood that much should be done to reach understanding between the two sides in order to advance the process of negotiations”. “Here, without comments, as they say, it is impossible. There is nothing surprising in the fact that “both sides give conflicting information about the situation, it is clear that no one will take responsibility and guilty for themselves. Especially because one party is none other, and Armenia, who’s aggressive, destructive, full of lies, slander provocative policy is known anywhere and everywhere. But in order and created the OSCE Minsk Group to determine who is right and who is not. One of the main reasons of an excessive inhaling of negotiating process also is this factor. And it is absolutely clear that to resolve the conflict would not be possible as long as the mediators do not explain for themselves, but also for the entire world community, who is guilty in this greatest regional humanitarian accident, who an aggressor, and who the wrecker, who the executioner, and who a victim. Thus also causing concern here is the message of a diplomat “takes a long work”. That is, R.Bradtke indirectly hints that 18-year-old term hasn’t sufficed “for reduction of the parties to the general denominator for advancement of negotiations process”, need more time. Obviously, foreign affairs specialists want to transform the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict in Israeli-Palestinian.
Speaking about those places, the diplomat from the USA has told: “This is the territory, where civilians do not live. This is a road and we reached its end we saw trenches… Trees and bushes around have been cut down, so that they do not hinder the vision from both sides. We were following the soldiers detecting mines. We witnessed again that there is a need to advance the peace process… The line of contact should not remain a permanent fence restricting the free movement of the people of the region. We witnessed the seriousness of the situation. I do not know whether our mission will change anything or not? But it was a message to all the sides. The line of contact is not permanent, but the ceasefire must be observed”. Let the reader does not fall into error, it does not apply to the entire contact line, in the vast majority of it passes in the vicinity of settlements, and not by accident that during the time of the ceasefire, hundreds of civilians to a nearby line of contact between villages have died or become disabled by the bullets of Armenian soldiers. And all the vegetation, trees and shrubs are destroyed by burning or cutting down not only just for show, it becomes obviously for the purpose of subjection of ecology of region to accident. One of the most positive results of co-shares the intersection line of contact is that, finally, after 18 years, they have “witnessed the seriousness of the situation”.
The co-chair said there were some 40 meters between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops in some places of the contact line. “The ceasefire is violated due to these reasons mostly, but recent events caused great concern: not only shootings took place in the contact line recently, but soldiers also attempted to cross the contact line. We told both sides that it is very dangerous situation and such cases should be prevented”. To disagree in it with the mister cochairman, perhaps, not probably. But not clearly another: really till now to representatives of the international organizations including co-chairs of MG, the Armenian character isn’t known? Unless they don’t know that not only any references, appeals, but even decisions, resolutions, orders of the international level don’t operate to Armenia, and only concrete serious sanctions or force it is possible to work on it that the two-standard approach to the parties of the conflict of many international organizations and some world superpowers yet doesn’t allow.
The co-chair from America said the OSCE fact-finding mission to the region. “It will be very important visit. You know the last OSCE fact-finding mission was five years ago. Early this year we decided that it needed to establish such mission again. It is important for the co-chairs too… These territories can not remain so. One day the refugees will return home. The separating lines should be removed… We are looking forward to change current status of these territories”. Yes, let they will see that the Armenian aggressors have done there, but under a condition that the mission report was objective and didn’t remain only on a paper.
So the next “tourist trip” OSCE Minsk Group has come to the end. And, to a great regret, like all of their visits over the past 18 years, it hasn’t left any trace after itself forward in negotiating process. But there were many unfounded statements and still daily increasing Armenian-Azerbaijan intensity…

Terrorism against the Muslim world
September 11, the anniversary of the chain of disasters which have caused mass deaths in the United States as a result of ram by grasped passenger planes of the World Trade Center and Pentagon in America, there have been cases that stirred up the whole world is not less than a day of the terrorism attack 9 years ago.
And that’s what happened. The pastor-evangelist from the U.S. state of Florida, Terry Jones announced that he intends to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York public burning of copies of the Koran. In his opinion, this action should become an annual and be called the “International Day for the burning of the Koran”. The pastor is planning to burn a total of 200 copies of the sacred book. This unfortunate priest called on all Christians to burn it in all parts of the world. It turns out that for a long time he has a spite against Islam and the representatives of that belief. According to The New York Times a year ago, a priest at the temple hung a banner “Islam – from a devil”. Some students of his coming began to wear T-shirts with the same inscription. But contrary to it in the nearest university campus there were shirts with paraphrased “motto” of the pastor: “Ignorance – from a devil”.
Jones’ offers have caused rough reaction all over the world, and especially in the countries of Islam which has regarded performance of the pastor as the announcement of religious war. In the America sharp reaction to the given offer, even at level of a management of the USA took place. So, US president Barack Obama has declared: “This (i.e, the burning of the Koran) can join the ranks of people will want to blow up itself in the American or European cities… Jones’ initiative could be for al-Qaida and other terrorist organizations” gold mine” to recruit supporters… If he listens to me, I hope, understand that his proposals run counter to our values … This country has been created on principles of religious freedom and religious tolerance… We never were at war and we will not be at war with Islam. On us, that September day was attacked not by religion, and “al Kaide”, a small group of the people who have perverted concept of religion”. Reaction of state secretary Hillary Clinton to it too was enough sharp: “Koran burning is the irresponsible and shameful act”.
The godless statement of the pastor has served indignation and anxiety of world community, in particular the population of the Muslim countries, the international organizations, many world leaders, and some of the high-ranking officials of the USA. The head of the Pentagon Robert Gates has addressed to the pastor and asked him to be receded from the intentions which can provoke terrorism acts and threaten lives of many Americans. After long negotiations Jones has refused to burn the sacred book. His obscene intention of burning the Koran had been revolted the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, commander of U.S. and NATO armies in Afghanistan, David Petrius, Pope Benedict XVI, Special Representative of UN Secretary General Stefan de Mistura, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Safety Catherine Ashton, a spokesman for the European Commission Marie Kasyanchich, secretary general of the World Islamic League Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki and others. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the Barack Obama and urged him to intervene and prevent the implementation of the plans of extremist pastors. In many countries many thousands protest actions, and accompanied with human victims in some places have taken place.
But, despite all it, “the bad example” of Jones all the same “has infected” some people of his type. And in day of anniversary of terrorism act in American state Tennessee two priests have burned a copy of the Koran. And in New York near to a place where twin-towers World Trade Center settled down, holding a meeting has pulled out and burned some pages from Islam ledger. In a word, the idea of pastor T. Jones has been realized.
This blasphemous action representing rough infringement of all norms and international laws, confirmed United Nations, also rules and customs of the civil mankind, being moral terror against all Moslem, mankind and the Most High, has caused the sharp protest from the party more than 1,5 billion Moslems of the whole world which demand from the USA urgently to eradicate insults and similar sorties against sacred Muslim values. After all, first, act of terrorism of 9-year-old prescription has been carried out by any terrorist groupings, instead of the Muslim world. Secondly, there also does nothing to do with the Koran, which is the last and most perfect heavenly laws and educates people in the spirit of righteousness, piety and good behavior. People burning the Koran give out themselves for Christians, but no Christian will burn the Koran at least only because in it names of prophet Jesus and Blessed Maria are mentioned.
One more fact which estimated as the next insult of honor and advantage of Moslems and has caused in them anger and indignation became meanwhile known. So, in the beginning of September German chancellor Angela Merkel has personally handed over the prestigious journalistic award “for a freedom of speech” to 75-year-old Dane Kurt Westergaard who has drawn in 2005 an offensive caricature on prophet Mohammed (!? – G.J.).
By the way, all world community knows, Christians-Armenians for all history of the existence subjected to what improbable troubles, torments and deprivations Moslems. And if, God forbid, to follow the logician T. Jones and his similar then till now should remain from hands of Moslems of any copy of the sacred Bible or the Gospel. But in the Muslim world, such can’t be! For Moslems preach Islam which always calls for friendship, love, peace and justice.
