Levon Ter-Petrosian: “Until Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is unsettled, Armenian-Turkish relations won’t be normalized”

“Unless the solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is found, neither conflict Armenian-Turkish relations will be normalized, nor the borders will be opened”, Armenian ex-President, Levon Ter-Petrosian stated, APA informs quoting “Novosti Armenia”.

Armenian-Turkish relations depend on the principal and constructive position of Ankara, as well as its influence on Azerbaijan, he stated. “Turkey intends to establish Armenian-Turkish Historians’ Commission to investigate the so-called Armenian genocide in the context of relations with Armenia. This forgotten idea was brought on the political agenda as a result of Serj Sarkisian’s unstability. The establishment of a joint commission might be a serious barrier in the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations. Because Turkey won’t give up its idea about establishing a joint commission. On the other hand, Serj Sarkisian, even if he wants, cannot succeed in realization of this idea under the pressure of public opinion”.
