The next meeting of Presidents of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and Armenia, Serj Sarkisian is supposed to be held in Davos soon.
Russian co-chair to the OSCE Minsk Group, Yuriy Merzlyakov stated in his exclusive interview to APA that they would discuss a possibility of a meeting with the parties during his visit to the region to take place soon. Answering the question “will other alternatives be advanced as regards the meeting holding” the co-chair stated that the mediators haven’t yet determined anything.
The Russian diplomat, answering the question whether the mediators’ appeal made in their last statement to co-ordinate the basic principles of the regulation can yield definite result soon, said that regretfully there is no news yet. The mediator, reminding that much time has passed since Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov and Edward Nalbandyan met in Helsinki early December, emphasized the necessity of defining the next steps soon.
Touching upon the co-chairs’ visit to the region, Y.Merzlyakov stated that the precise date of the visit hasn’t yet been fixed. “After the date is fixed, it will be clear if all the co-chairs arrive or not in the region”.
It is notable that the World Economic Forum will be held in Davos, Switzerland on January 29 -February 1.
