The statement regarding the 60th anniversary of Azerbaijanis’ deportation from Armenia made up by member of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, Ganira Pashayeva, was officially allowed by the PACE Chair to be spread in the Organization’s winter session.
The document signed by more than 20 MPs from Great Britain, Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Turkey and other states says: “The right of all the nations deported during Stalin’s regime to return to the native lands were restored. But the right of Azerbaijanis deported in 1948-1953 from their historical territories hasn’t been restored by Armenian side till today. Fundamental principals of human rights of those people have been violated by Armenians for 60 years”.
Yerevan, not restoring and ensuring the right of 150 thousand Azerbaijanis driven away 60 years ago to return to their native lands, keeps on violating these people’s rights. Azerbaijanis are the only nation among the deported during Stalin’s regime whose rights weren’t restored, only Azerbaijanis are deprived of these rights.
As a consequence of indifferent position of the international organizations and the world community, Armenia, carrying on mono-ethnic policy strongly condemned by the CE, drove away all the Azerbaijanis from their historical forefathers’ lands in 1988. As a result of ethnic cleaning policy carried out by Armenia, 300 thousand Azerbaijanis were driven away from their historical lands.
The PACE, including its member-states, assuming human rights as a priority objective, condemns these crimes committed against Azerbaijanis, call on to restore the rights of Azerbaijanis driven away in 1948-1953 and 1988 from their historical ancestors’ lands and put pressure on Armenia.
