Works over recognition of Khojaly genocide by world parliaments to be intensified – Azerbaijani MP  Azerbaijani MP, Ganira Pashayeva considers that the works over recognition of the Khojaly genocide by the world parliaments should be intensified. “We should think that 17 years has passed since the commitment of the Khojaly genocide and if our activity to introduce this as genocide has been fruitless, there is no need to continue this work. This is a very long process and we should intensively work in order to get any result”, member of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, MP Ganira Pashayeva stated to Trend News.

Reference of Trend News: On the night of 25 to 26 February, 1992, Armenian armed units committed the genocide in Khojaly town, the population – 7 thousand. Over 4 months the town remained in the blockade, so considerable part of the population had to leave the town and only 3 thousand people remained there after the attack of the town Armenian troops. 613 people were killed, 1000 civilians of different ages were wounded and became disabled. 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people were killed, 8 families were completely wiped out, 25 children lost both parents, 130 – one of the parents. 1275 people were taken captives; the fate of 150 people is still unknown.
Azerbaijani government inquires into the question of prosecuting Armenians in the International Criminal Court (The Hague Court) connected with the Khojaly genocide, Ali Hasanov, chief to the socio-political department of the AR Presidential Administration stated to Trend News.

According to Pashayeva, Armenians carry out continuous propaganda to get the world community to recognize the so called Armenian genocide. “The Khojaly genocide was committed in the new history and right in front of the whole world. We should work 50-100 years to have the world recognize the genocide”, the MP stated.
The MP stated about the necessity to spread more comprehensive and all-round information about the Khojaly genocide in the world countries. “Great responsibility is incurred by both Azerbaijan and the Diaspora organizations abroad. Our Diaspora Organizations can fulfill more fruitful work in this line”, the MP stated.
