In daily newspaper of “Armenian News», published in French, the article, Karl Bidt: “Sweden doesn’t recognize Armenian Genocide”was published.
According to article, Foreign Minister of Sweden, Karl Bidt, showed his reaction to the question of deputy from Liberal Popular Party, Cecile Ouilkstrom about “Armenian genocide». He said that Sweden doesn’t recognize “Armenian Genocide”. Minister also said that the research of this issue should be made not politicians but historians. As most European deputies, this lady deputy is under the big influence of Armenian lobby and in some cases had their support, reminded the Minister that, in 1987 most of countries recognized “Armenian Genocide” through European parliament and in this way she confused herself. The Minister of the country reminded lady deputy that, the recognition of “genocide” could create additional and undesirable problems to Sweden. Then the Minister noted that even if in 1915 this kind of event happened, it is far behind and Turkey is not taking responsibility for far old issue and “the genocide’ doesn’t have any legal basis. This respond made angry the secretary of the Sweden Armenian Assembly, Vahan Avedyan. V. Avedyan pointed out his defect to Mr. Minister that, “genocide” is not general issue, and according to the Convention of the UN, it is an international crime and Sweden signed this convention. However, the term in the convention and so called “Armenian Genocide” is quite different. This serious reaction of Minister to this issue made him mad and he said that in case if Karl Bidt will find out truth of this issue he will welcome him. Then secretary said that “it is not up to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden to protect Turkey”.
V. Avedyan who is not tired from repeating the old version of his co patriots just forgot one fact that Minister couldn’t reveal the truth about the ‘Genocide” which is just exaggerated imagination of Armenians.
