Azerbaijani MP discusses Armenia's aggressive policy with Albanian officials Azerbaijani Parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva discussed Armenia’s aggressive policy toward Azerbaijan with the Albanian officials.
Azerbaijani Parliamentarians and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Pashayeva met with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Parliamentary Speaker Josefina Topalli and Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha in Tirana.
At the meetings, the parliamentarian informed the Albanian officials about the way passed by Azerbaijan after gaining independence, its successes, giant energy and transit projects, as well as Armenia’s aggressive policy toward Azerbaijan.
The parliamentarian made a detailed report to the Albanian party leaders, non-government organizations and media representatives that Armenia has occupied 20 percent of the Azerbaijani territories, commits ethnic cleansing and genocide toward civilians. “It has been more than 15 years that roughly 1 million Azerbaijanis cannot to return to their native lands and official Yerevan refuses to fulfill requirements of the UN Security Council and PACE’s resolutions which demand from Armenia leave the Azerbaijani territories which it has occupied,” the parliamentarian reported.
Pashayeva visited Tirana as a member of the PACE pre-election mission, sent to Albania. The PACE pre-election mission which comprises its head Korien Yonker, Ganira Pashayeva, Saar Indrek and Andrey Zernovski aims to get familiarization with the pre-election situation in Albania before the parliamentary elections to be held on June 28.
As part of the visit which began on June 4, members of the pre-elections mission met with the Albanian political parties, the country’s two biggest parties – Democratic and Socialist Party leaders, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Parliamentary Speaker Josefina Topalli, Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha, Interior Minister Buzhar Nishani, local and foreign NGO leaders, media organization leaders, officials of the OSCE and EU Tirana Offices, as well as chairman of the central election commissions. The members divulged the results of their visit to the media.
The PACE will send a delegation comprising 20 parliamentarians to Albania to monitor the parliamentarian elections to be held on June 28.
