Accordind to lent.az recently, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Turkey and Switzerland issued a joint statement that Armenia and Turkey have reached an agreement to start political consultations on the establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The protocol says:
– The establishment, under the leadership of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two-state working group to develop a program of activities of the intergovernmental commission and its affiliated specialized committees – two months after the entry into force of the protocol on the development of bilateral relations.
– The opening of the border – within two months after the entry into force of the” Protocol on the development of bilateral relations.
– Approval at the ministerial level of the program activities of the intergovernmental commission and its affiliated specialized committees – three months after the entry into force of the “Protocol on the development of bilateral relations.
– The first meeting of the intergovernmental commission – immediately after approval at the ministerial level of the program activities of the intergovernmental commission and its affiliated specialized commissions.
– The beginning of the specialized commissions – not later than one month after the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission.
The paper noted that the specialized commissions, members of the intergovernmental commission will be seven: the Political Affairs; transport, communications, energy and infrastructure, legal issues, science and education, trade, tourism and economic cooperation, environmental issues, historical issues involving Armenian, Turkish, Swiss and other international experts.
