President Ilham Aliyev met with internally displaced persons (IDP) and public representatives of Gabala region.
According to APA citing “Azertac” news agency, in his address to the public representatives of the region President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijani government gives a great importance to the housing improvement and employment conditions of IDPs. “The State Program on development of regions is underway and in the first phases all the problems of those citizens who were living under trying conditions have been settled.” Today, there are no IDPs and refugees living in tents in Azerbaijan. Now, the problems of other refugees living in the buildings of uninhabitable conditions will be at the centre of attention. This process is happening in Gabala. We are implementing these improvement works in various parts of our country. Multi-storey buildings for IDPs and refugees are being constructed in Baku and other regional centers. Living conditions in these houses are very comfortable and I believe you’ll have better lives. But the main point today is that you could return to your homes. This is our key concern.”
President stressed that Khojali Genocide which is a grave crime by Armenians against the people of Azerbaijan will never fade away of our memories. “All the world community recognized that this was a grave crime against humanity. As a result of our attempts, with support of Azerbaijani Government, public and Diaspora organizations, youths, students studying abroad all the world community are aware of this crime. Though Armenians strived to hide the realities of this grave crime thanks to their strong Diaspora in the world, they failed to do it. Misrepresenting the facts of Khojaly Genocide they tried to veil their brutalities carried out against Azerbaijani people. But today, all the world community is aware of the realities of this crime.”
Ilham Aliyev said all those criminals in charge of this genocide against Azerbaijani people will be prosecuted. “I firmly believe that all the criminals, their supporters whose hands stained with bloods of Azerbaijani people will be punished. Touching the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, President noted that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts. We are striving and have to strive to reach overall development of our country and strengthen its powering order to make our position much more stance in the negotiations with Armenia. Armenians didn’t occupy our lands with peaceful ways. Our lands have been occupied by military way, by support of other countries”, President Ilham Aliyev added.
President noted that Armenian lobby got into hands of dissembles and politicians charged in corruption. “Paying money and delivering them benefits Armenian lobby trying to strengthen its position. We are for the fair solution of the problem, according to the international law. We have no territorial claims to any state. Though today’s Armenia was built on the territories of Azerbaijani lands. Despite this fact, we have no such territorial claims. We want our historically and internationally recognized lands to be freed and our citizens returned to their homes. We are being told that the problem must be solved peacefully. This is what we also support. But no one must forget that Armenians occupied these lands in military ways, but not peacefully. Though 20 years passed everyone must remember this bloody night. All the citizens of Azerbaijan, especially younger generation must always remember this crime against our people. If Armenia acted in violent way against us, then why everybody recommends us to solve this problem peacefully? I’d like to reiterate that no one wants war. Who wants the war? How much more should we wait for the world community and sides involved in this issue to solve this problem? We must not submit this situation. Status-quo doesn’t suit us. Status-quo must be changed in fair way. Armenians must unconditionally withdraw from our lands. And only after that should cooperation and peace be established. This is our key position. This issue must find its solution within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan Republic. The latest processes show that those who are strong they are always right. Unfortunately this is reality today. That’s why we need to be much stronger. We see that this injustice is continuing nearly 20 years. We need to mobilize our efforts and to strengthen our position. We must develop our economic potential. According to the latest reports Azerbaijan is in the first place through countries with rapidly growing economies. We must increase our economic resources. All the works done are pursuing this goal.”
