The US-based Asbarez Armenian Newspaper has placed photos of the 20 January tragedy victims in its website, having thus presented the brutally killed Azerbaijanis as the “Armenians murdered in their homes”.
The photos placed under the heading “Don`t forget the massacre of Baku Armenians” appeared to be of the Azerbaijani citizen of Jewish origin, Vera Bessantina, 18, and other Azeri victims, brutally shot by the Soviet troops in Baku on the Bloody January.
During the mentioned events, the author, photographer Andrey Solovyov of ITAR-TASS, had sent these photos to the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency.
The Azerbaijan-American Council has condemned forgery of the Armenian newspaper and expressed protest for making photos of the 20 January victims a tool in the Armenian nationalist propaganda.
This is not the first falsification of Armenians. So did Armenian journalist Eduard Pariyants, in October 2007, who published in the Russian language newspaper, “V Novom Svete, in New York the white-black photos of the Khojaly massacre victims”, presenting them as the Armenian children allegedly killed by Turks.
