Azerbaijan, UN Alliance of Civilizations to implement joint projects

State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan and U.N. Alliance of Civilizations have reached an agreement on the action plan that will be signed and take effect after relevant procedures, the state committee said on Feb.5.

The agreement on the action plan as an addition to the memorandum of mutual understanding signed between the parties on September 27, 2013 was reached at the meeting between the state committee’s representative Elshad Iskandarov and the high representative of the Alliance Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser on Feb.5 in Istanbul.

The action plan envisages the implementation of joint projects between the state committee and the U.N. Alliance of Civilizations in the spheres of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, and strengthening of civil society.

Iskandarov stressed that the cooperation with the U.N/ Alliance of Civilizations is important for the country and said that Azerbaijan has held numerous events within the Alliance.

The high representative of the Alliance Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Azerbaijan and pointed out that with the implementation of the projects agreed in the action plan, the work on expansion of cooperation will continue.
