German parliament adopts resolution “Security, Stability and Promoting Democracy in South Caucasus ” for first time

For the first time, Bundestag, the Parliament of Germany adopted a resolution “Security, Stability and Promoting Democracy in South Caucasus”.
By adopting the resolution, the Bundestag of Germany recognizes the territorial integrity of each of three South Caucasus countries and supports solution of the conflicts in the region within territorial integrity and sovereignty of these states, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Germany said on May 15.
The resolution highlights inadmissibility of changing borders of the states without consent of these states during solution of the conflicts.
According to the resolution, all states must recognize the right of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, provided in the OSCE Paris Charter, to freely choose their partners and allies. The OSCE Charter ensures territorial integrity and sovereignty rights. The borders can be changed only through the agreement between the sides. These principles serve as a basis for solution of the conflicts in the South Caucasus and other European regions
The resolution calls upon the German Government to mobilize its efforts for implementation of UN resolutions, as well as Council of Europe and OSCE decisions and resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In addition, all factions in the Bundestag (Christian Democrat and Christian Socialist Unions, Free Democrats, Social Democrats, Lefts and Greens) condemned occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories and mentioned the importance of withdrawal of Armenia from Azerbaijani territories and resolving Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
