Arzu Rahimov, head of the AR State Migration Service stated to a correspondent of AzerTAg regarding control of migration processes in the country that remaining period of foreigners and those who didn’t have citizenship in Azerbaijan was defined, mechanism allowing them to live temporarily and permanently in our country was prepared and registration system of foreigners was improved in the new law adopted by Milli Majlis (Parliament). Improvement of control and supervision system in the migration field, concrete tasks in the direction to improve the activity co-ordination of state bodies was reflected in the August 5, 2008 decree about the development of migration control system signed by the head of the state.
Head of the service stated that temporary remaining period of foreigners coming with visa to Azerbaijan is defined according to the period showed in the visa. If remaining period of foreigner is prolonged by the AR State Migration Service, visa period is prolonged by Foreign Ministry. Foreigners and citizens who want to stay in Azerbaijan about 30 days must undergo registration where they stayed during 3 days. The State Migration Service gives permission for temporary living, but for registration interior affairs’ bodies should be appealed.
A.Rahimov emphasized that, foreigners and those who don’t have citizenship legally living in the country at least two years are given right to live permanently, ie, status of immigrant for 5 years and this can be prolonged more 5 years. At the same time in case of danger to state’s security and public stability, if they present forged document and information, if they carry virus of dangerous infectious diseases and in other cases they are not permitted to live in the country permanently.
Arzu Rahimov added that it was intended to establish unique system of information for analysis, prognoses and monitoring of migration system. And this will enable to take actions in order to struggle against illegal migration and to ensure security.
