Negotiation process on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is going very slowly

“Negotiations process on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is going very slowly”, said new Russian Co-chair Igor Popov while answering the question of journalists about his intention to revitalize his activity after several accusations addressed to him, APA reports.

“I don’t understand what you mean about the revitalization. Meetings are continuing constantly, we met with President and Foreign Minister yesterday. And tomorrow we will meet with French co-chair Bernard Fassier. But slowness of the process is another moment”, he said.

Popov noted that Russia’s position in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged after the appointment of new co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group. “On the whole, OSCE still has much work to do towards the settlement of this conflict. Russia’s position will not change with the replacement of co-chairs. The Russia’s position is determined not by co-chair but by the president of Russia. Mr. Bradtke and Yuri Merzlyakov have already expressed their opinion in relation to prospects. Tomorrow we will discuss it with our colleague, Ambassador Fassier. I think that we have much work to do. I will try to justify the confidence reposed in me”, he said.
