One of the goals of our visit to Azerbaijan was to make efforts to reestablish the lost momentum concerning Nagorno Karabakh

“One of the goals of our visit to Azerbaijan was to make efforts with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to reestablish the lost momentum concerning Nagorno Karabakh problem,” American co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Robert Bradtke told journalists.

He said very serious and constructive meetings had been held in Azerbaijan.
“I was very pleased when Ilham Aliyev underlined that he supported peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh problem. I reiterated at the meeting with President that the U.S. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton supported peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh problem,” he said.

According to American diplomat, the next meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents, as well as the following steps will be known after the co-chairs’ meeting in Moscow tomorrow.

To the question “Does Armenia accept Madrid principles?” Robert Bradtke said the following:
“We will continue discussions. There are important points, where common views are expressed. But some points had not been agreed yet,” he said.

Asked about Azerbaijan’s unilateral refusal of the military exercise with the US, the diplomat mentioned that he had come to Azerbaijan in capacity of co-chair.
“The main aim is to discuss Karabakh problem. But I want to mention that we are also cooperating with the Azerbaijani government in several other spheres, too,” he said.
