The presentation of the book “Khojaly genocide” (printed in English) by MPs, Havva Mammadova and Ganira Pashayeva was held in the press center of Trend News.
Havva Mammadova stated the memories of the people captured during the Khojaly genocide and the names of the killed people are reflected in the book. “Publication of books reflecting Azerbaijan’s reality in foreign languages is very important”, the MP stated.
Many books of high quality should be published about the Khojaly genocide, co-author and scientific editor of the book, Ganira Pashayeva stated. “The foreigners, who will read the book “Khojaly genocide”, will get much more information about genocide”, the MP added.
The presentation of the book will be held within the framework of the “Khojaly week” to take place in the USA in connection with the 17th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
Reference of Trend News: On the night of February 25 – 26, 1992, Armenian armed units committed the genocide in Khojaly town, the population – 7 thousand. Over 4 months the town remained in the blockade, so considerable part of the population had to leave the town and only 3 thousand people remained there after the attack of the Armenian troops. 613 people were killed, 1000 civilians of different ages were wounded and became disabled. 106 women, 63 children and 70 old people were killed, 8 families were completely wiped out, 25 children lost both parents, 130 – one parent. 1275 people were taken captives; the fate of 150 people is still unknown.
Azerbaijani government inquires into the question of prosecuting Armenia in the International Criminal Court (The Hague Court) in connection with the Khojaly genocide, Ali Hasanov, chief to the socio-political department of the AR Presidential Administration stated to Trend News.
