Pro-Armenian congressmen voted against cutting down aid to Azerbaijan
The majority of pro-Armenian congressmen voted against the proposal to cut down military aid to Azerbaijan raised in the sub-committee on foreign programs of the US House of Representatives.
The proposal initiated by Joe Knollenberg, co-chair of the working group on Armenia wasn’t supported by other members of the group, APA’s USA bureau reports. Jesse Jackson, Steve Israel, Ben Candler, Steve Rodman, Barbara Lee and Betty McCollum voted against the proposal to reduce military aid apportioned to Azerbaijan. According to the sub-committee’s decision, the equal amount of economic aid should be allotted to Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2009. But compared with 2008, the aid intended for Armenia is less by 59%.
