Minister of Defense of Republic of Azerbaijan, General – Colonel, Safar Abiyev met with the US Armed Forces Commander in Europe, General Bantz Craddock on May 21. After ceremonial meeting in Ministry of Defense, the meeting with full staff of the representatives was organized.
The press agency of Ministry gave information that mentioning the dynamics of Azerbaijan – USA relations; S. Abiyev said that the relations on military cooperation will be more successful.
Minister of Defense touched the military – political condition in the region and said that the stress in the region will get worsen until Armenia withdraws its military forces from Azerbaijan territory and the settlement of this conflict via peaceful means will be impossible. That’s why, both Europe and the OSCE Minsk group should increase the influence means on Armenia. Otherwise, the undesired process will be inevitable. General Bantz Craddock in his talks said that the settlement of this conflict is very important. He also stated that Azerbaijan has very big role in international security system, and stressed the importance of Azeri peacemaking military contingent in Kosovo, Iraq, now in Afghanistan.
The US Ambassador Ann Derse also participated in the meeting.
