Baku – APA. The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) strongly condemns the creation of an unofficial “working group” on “NKR” in the European Parliament, APA reports.
The organization said in a statement: “It is alleged that the purpose of the creation of this group is to promote ties between the EU and unrecognized regime. This decision on the breakaway regime contrary to the principles of the European Parliament, called to defend international law and combine values of the European peoples”, the statement said.
The document also notes the fact of occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territories, recall 4 UN Security Council resolutions adopted on this occasion, as well as the PACE resolution, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation: “It is estimated that about 1 million Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their homes, remaining to this day victims of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
In a statement, TEAS also notes that the creation of the so-called “Working group” demonstrates the destructive role of Armenia in the conflict through negotiations, “At the same time it is a provocative move towards negotiations continuing with the mediation of the OSCE for 20 years.”
TEAS Director Lionel Zetter addressed to the president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and the chairmen of the groups expressed regret about this: “The creation of this group is not only contrary to international law, but also a sign of disrespect for the sovereignty of a country which is a member of the UN Security Council and presides the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.”
TEAS all members of the European Parliament to express their attitude on this issue and to resolutely condemn the creation of so-called “Working group.”
