“The government says to us ‘you are right, but don’t worry the Armenians will begin releasing the seven occupied regions as the process goes on’.
They say they will sign the protocols, but will ratify them in the parliament after the regions are released. But we have a question – April 24. Maybe the signed protocols will not be confirmed, but before April 24 they will tell us that the U.S. Congress is about to recognize the “genocide”, the only way to prevent it is to ratify the protocols and reopen the borders,” leader of Republican People’s Party Deniz Baykal told journalists after meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, APA reports quoting Turkish media.
He said the government will signed the protocols on October 13 and underlined that the party is against it.
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with leaders of the Republican People’s Party, Democratic Left Party and Felicity Party within the framework of the six-week international political discussions envisaged in the protocols initialed with Armenia. None of the parties supported the government’s policy Armenian policy.
The opposition leaders stated that the borders with Armenia must not be reopened unless the occupied Azerbaijani territories are released.
