As a result of research-investigation measures carried out in 2008 by the working group of the State Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People, the fate of 100 people, registered as missing ones, was cleared up and their names were removed from the list of missing people. It was specified that 26 citizens out of 100 are alive, some of them live abroad, 33 were killed at the battles and their bodies were identified and buried, and 41 people were registered twice.
Consequently, the number of hostages, captives and missing people on 1 June, 2008 made 4264. 3439 of them were military, 817 – civilians (it is unknown whether 8 people are civilians or military). 47 of the missing civilians are underage children (16 underage girls including), 262 were women and 359 were old people (156 of them women). According to the information received, 783 people out of 4264 were taken captives and hostages, and testimonies of witnesses are taken.
1396 people were freed from the Armenian captivity, 343 of them were women, 1053 – men, 169 – children (65 underage girls including) and 289- old people (112 old women).
During analysis of the materials received by the State Commission, it was defined that 550 people were killed in the captivity or died by different reasons, 104 of them were women, 446 – men. Only the names of 137 people are known, the names of 74 are unknown.
