The USA assists separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime – Azerbaijani MP

“The USA is the only country where parliament assists separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime”, Gultakin Hajiyeva, deputy chair of standing commission of Milli Majlis (AR Parliament) on the international reletions and inter-parliamentary relations, member of the Azerbaijani delegation in the PACE stated.
“After achieving independence, we saw that real America differs from the America we idealized in our brain”, she said.
Hajiyeva underlined that the USA hasn’t annulled 907th regulation yet and lengthening a moratorium applied to this regulation it tries to calm down Azerbaijan.
According to her the USA and Azerbaijan are strategic allies. “The USA is more superior ally for Azerbaijan in comparison with other co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group”, Hajiyeva stated.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasia started in 1988 over territorial claims raised by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Until December 1991, Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojaly. But in 1992-93, Shusha, Khojaly and seven surrounding districts of Nagorno-Karabakh were occupied too. In 1994, the parties signed the ceasefire agreement and peaceful negotiations are held under the patronage and co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the USA.
