There is progress in the regulation of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict – Ambassador of the UK in ArmeniaAlthough there is significant progress in the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, there are a lot of issues demanding discussion and agreement, Charles Lonsdale, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK in Armenia stated to journalists on November 25, Novosti-Armenia writes.
He expressed doubt that this process will finish in a moment or during a day. “Though I’m in an optimistic mood, I don’t consider that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be settled in a moment”, Lonsdale explained.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasia started in 1988 over territorial claims raised by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Until December 1991, Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojaly. But in 1992-93, Shusha, Khojaly and seven surrounding districts of Nagorno-Karabakh were occupied too. In 1994, the parties signed the ceasefire agreement and hold fruitless peace talks till today.
The co-chairs to the OSCE Minsk Group – Russia, France, and the USA, are mediating for peaceful solution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
