UNESCO does not consider lavash exclusive “Armenian bread” – Minister

“There can be no question about lavash belonging to one nation”, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told journalists, APAreports.

The minister said that lavash belongs to the entire region.

“The reality is that lavash is baked in Armenia. However, it is also baked both in Turkey and Azerbaijan. Lavash’s belonging to one nation is out of the question. The appeal submitted to UNESCO presents lavash as Armenian bread. However, the issue was clarified. UNESCO doest not consider lavash exclusive “Armenian bread” and says it belongs to the entire region,” he added.
