International Strategic Studies Association situated in London made public annual report estimating military potential of world countries. The report covers 170 countries. Information about troops of Azerbaijan and Armenia was included into the report.
The report says that Azerbaijan has troop of nearly 67 000 people. However, Armenian troops are 35% less than Azerbaijan, i.e. 42 000 people. The opportunities of Azerbaijan are wider than Armenian for number of its reserves. Azerbaijan has 300 000 mobilized forces, while Armenia has 200 000. The majority of arms of both troops are produced in Russia.
Tanks and BTR of Azerbaijan are 3 times more than Armenia. Azerbaijan has 320 tanks and 470 BTR. The parties do not differ for the quantity of the BMP, since Azerbaijan has 127, whereas Armenia possesses 104 BMP.
Azerbaijan has 47 fighting planes as the report informs. The quantity of Armenian planes of this kind is 3 times less than Azerbaijan.
Both of the parts have airplanes like Mig-25, Su-24 and Su-25.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan has 6 modern apparatus without pilot- “Aerostar” and “Orbiter”. However, Armenia has not such apparatus. The most part of arsenal is composed of “Grad” devices, i.e. rocket devices in two parts. Azerbaijan also has 12 modern “Smerch” devices. Those devices were put into Soviet’s use in 1989.
As regards to the armed forces, the report says that Azerbaijan’s arsenal is 10 times more than Armenia.
