Bones of people killed by Armenians in 1918 found in Kurdamir Region of Azerbaijan

Bones of people killed by Armenians in 1918 were found in Kurdamir Region of Azerbaijan, APA local bureau reports. Resident of Garasu Village Aghamammad Nurmammadov found the remains while driving a well in his yard and informed police immediately.

Police and officials of the regional culture and tourism office checked the territory. Two more skeletons were found there.

There was no cemetery in the territory and the bodies were buried spontaneously, police and officials of local museum of history and ethnography said. The experts said it could be remains of the local residents killed by Armenians 90 years ago. More human remains supposed to be there.

The local prosecutor’s office is investigating the fact. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism was informed about the findings. It needs to hold archeological excavations in the territory.

According to the historic reports, dashnak-bolshevik units committed massacres in Guba, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Goychay and Kurdamir in 1918. Several settlements of Kurdamir, including Garasu Village were also attacked by the Armenian-Russian units. The villagers also confirmed that their forefathers were attacked by the Armenians in 1918.
