Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Director of the Administration’s Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov hash commented on statement that Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents will meet in September, 2015 after last meeting in Paris,APA reports.
Mammadov said that the anniversary of the UN General Assembly will be held next year.
Mammadov noted that the statement by Co-chairs on Holding of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents’ next meeting during anniversary of the UN General Assembly is a supposition: “Maybe, the co-chairs think that it’s an anniversary of UN General Assembly, all presidents will attend there and a meeting can be held. However, all of these are suppositions. I consider it neither a plan nor a concrete program. Other interesting point of the issue is that though there was not significant progress, OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair countries US, Russia and France took a step, attempted to do anything. However, after these steps, Armenia also took provocative steps. In fact, Armenia wants to gain a position in the international arena for a year with this step. If we would announce our position on Armenia’s provocative military exercises, they would say that Azerbaijan disrupts negotiations. In fact, the negotiations are disrupted by Armenia. Armenian leadership wants to prolong settlement of the conflict. However, they should know that the longer they will prolong settlement of the conflict, disrupt negotiations, the closer to the tragedy will be the fate of the state and nation”.
N. Mammadov said that the world has never been anxious as now and there have never been such hotbeds of conflicts: “When the international law is approached inattentively, the situations will be so. This is allowed by world’s leading countries. Small countries cannot violate the international law and take such steps. Small countries are mainly subject, object in these cases and face pressures. Today, one of the main causes of tensions in the world is unjust position of international organization, from UN to OSCE Minsk Group, on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. If they would solve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, other conflicts would not be created”.
