“I don’t cavil at condolences of several international organizations, foreign embassies in Azerbaijan on killing of Armenian pilots. The fact is that Armenian pilots have been killed and they have right to offer condolence”, said the deputy head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration’s foreign relations department, Novruz Mammadov, APA reports.
Mammadov said that Armenian pilots have become victims of the adventurist aggressive policy of the Armenian leadership: “They have not come there with their own desire. Armenian leadership must understand that the people should not be brought to such a tragedy”.
Mammadov stressed that complicated processes are underway: “Activity on Armenia-Azerbaijan, settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is observed recently. After a long pause, the international organizations OSCE Minsk Group increased attention to the issue. Several steps have been taken. Azerbaijani President met with Armenian President in Sochi with the participation of Russian President, this was a initiative, a step for the settlement of the conflict. Thereafter, such meeting was held at NATO summit in the UK with the initiative of US Secretary of State. Discussions were also held at that meeting. A little while ago, exchange of opinions was held in Paris with the initiative of French President. The target was that how can step forward?”
Mammadov underlined that in spite of all efforts, Armenian side wants to keep status-quo with any way, tactic, method and therefore uses different lies, pretexts, slanders: “This is not new. Armenian side took repeatedly such steps recent years. I announce fr the first time, Armenian President agreed with Russian President in Kazan meeting to write a little text regarding negotiations that the there were held intense negotiations, discussions were held, though there is no result, the meeting should be continued. After meeting, Russian side released such statement. However, after a half an hour, Armenian side announced that the meeting was held, Azerbaijani leadership does not want to solve the conflict. In that time, the world was waiting results of this meeting and they tried to form of opinions that Azerbaijan has not constructive position in settlement of the conflict. They took such steps many times. Or, an incident occurred on the frontline before Sochi meeting. At last , a meeting was held in France. I cannot say any significant progresses, but detailed talks have been held. After meeting, Serzh Sargsyan and Edurard Nalbandyan said they are satisfied with the negotiations. However, they started to hold provocative military exercises in Karabakh after 5-10 days. They thought that Azerbaijan will make a noise, Armenia will say they are innocent, Azerbaijan’s wants to disrupt negotiations. However, we understood it”.
Mammadov says Armenia cannot take step sanely: “What rights do allow Armenia holding military exercise Azerbaijan’s territory? If so-called body in Nagorno Karabakh holds military exercise, or jointly with Armenia, what rights do allow them doing that? This is a main issue. They wanted to shuffle off the blame on to Azerbaijan using sabotage, but they lost their sense of measurement that carry out attacking flights over Aghdam”. The flights have been carried out some times. In this case, that helicopter should be shot down. These steps mean violation of international law and being supported by anyone. They should know that Azerbaijan is ready answer their such steps.
Mammadov said that several countries and organizations released false, slander information in this regard: “Even, some of Euronews TV channel’s information were normal, some were changed. What is the purpose? Or, several countries demonstrate themselves as guardians of international law, but why don’t they share position on these military exercises. OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should be representatives of international law on this conflict. Let them say do Armenian have right to hold military exercise in the occupied territories? If any military exercises are held in any country, no one from journalists, NGOs to leaders sleep. They announce that such exercises are threat. But, why don’t they say same thing about us? Maybe they think Armenia’s military exercises guarantee Azerbaijan’s security, stability and territorial integrity? Unfortunately, the injustice is obvious”
