“We are working hard for the solution of Nagorno Karabakh problem. We are keen to soonest solution of the problem”, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
The head of state noted that the problem should be solved on the basis of international law and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan should be restored and Armenian invaders should be withdrawn from the occupied lands, and our citizens can return to their homeland. “These are the main principles for the solution of the problem. Azerbaijan will not step back from its principal position. We will mobilize all of our opportunities to work hard for the soonest and fair solution of the problem within the interests of Azerbaijan and on the basis of international law”.
The president said unfortunately 2009 was not a decisive year for the solution of the problem. “There were great hopes for the solution of Nagorno Karabakh problem in 2009. But we couldn’t reach any result because of non-constructive position of Armenia. Today all sides engaged in the solution of the problem support the solution within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Even Armenia was forced to sign a document which considers the solution of the problem within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”.
The head of state said Azerbaijan should be powerful country to solve the problem. “We must establish a powerful country and we are doing that. We must build strong army and army-building process is developing rapidly in Azerbaijan. Today Azerbaijan is a leading country in the South Caucasus for all parameters. We know that and all over the world also know that… Azerbaijan’s economy is developing while whole region is in the economic crisis. Infrastructure projects, solution of the social problems, reconstruction of the cities, army-building –Azerbaijan leaves Armenia behind in all spheres. A gap between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the economic and other fields is deepening day by day. Of course, today our economic and military power enables us to solve the problem by the military way. But we don’t wish a war. We don’t wish that our people become martyrs further. We are keen to peaceful solution to the conflict through the negotiations. But at the same time Azerbaijani army and Azerbaijani citizens have always to be ready to liberate our lands from the invaders”.
