“State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has not signed an agreement with Turkey on conducting hydrocarbons exploration in the Mediterranean Sea, SOCAR told APA-Economics. “SOCAR has never worked and will not work in disputed areas”, the company said. Greek Simerini newspaper reported that SOCAR has signed an agreement with Turkey on holding exploration of hydrocarbons near the coast of Cyprus.
According to the newspaper, SOCAR will start the works from February, 2015. Even, TPAO intends to rent two exploration platforms to be constructed by SOCAR on the coast of Mediterranean Sea.
