“The Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a threat both to regional and other countries,” said Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov addressing the 9th Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference of the member states of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Tehran, Iran, APA reports quoting ISNA.
Asadov said the Azerbaijani government attaches great importance to the development of OIC and OIC Inter-Parliamentary Union: “If the state or society fails to resist to moral deformity, lasting stability is impossible. We see that we are unable to solve a number of problems alone. Therefore, all Muslim countries should act jointly.”
Asadov also touched upon the Armenian aggressive policy against Azerbaijan: “In 2008, OIC played a significant role in supporting Azerbaijan’s position. With the support of Islamic countries, the United Nations has adopted a resolution on the settlement of conflicting situation in Azerbaijan.”
The speaker also expressed gratitude to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for supporting Azerbaijan.
