Book about fictitious “Armenian genocide” excluded from school manuals in Toronto, Canada
Book about fictitious “Armenian genocide” was excluded from school manuals’ list in Toronto city, Canada. The book entitled “Unusual devil: summary of the history of genocide”, planned to be taught in the 11th form with the initiative and support of local Armenian Diaspora next school year, was excluded from the list under the pressure of Turkish community living in the country. Kovsar Taymaz, representative of the Canada- Turkish Council stated that gained result is very important for the Turkish community living in the country. The author of the book stated this step was not unexpected for him, but he regrets that a little group has so great impact opportunity to Canadian officials. But education bodies of Canada explained this with the lack of historical facts.
To note, it was planned to use the book at “Genocide against Humankind and crimes” lesson taught in Canadian schools.
