Commemoration ceremony devoted to 20 January victims and presentation of “Realities of Azerbaijanis’ genocide” book held in Kiev by academician Ramiz Mehdiyev The Commemoration ceremony devoted to the 19th anniversary of 20 January tragedy committed in 1990 in Baku, and the book “Realities of Azerbaijanis’ genocide” written by head of the AR presidential administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, published in Russian and Kyrgyz languages, was held in the capital of Ukraine, in Samad Vurgun library. The event participants got acquainted with the stand reflecting the photos of the “Black January” events. The memory of victims of the tragedy was commemorated at the event arranged by the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, the Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis and the Ukraine-Azerbaijan Friendship charitable fund.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, Talat Aliyev, speaking about one of the bloody pages of our nation’s modern history, reminded once again the names of the Soviet leaders and their servants inflicting mass repressions in our republic in respect of the heroes fighting for Azerbaijan’s freedom who gave up their lives for the sovereignty and independence of our country.
Afterwards, the ambassador presented academician Ramiz Mehdiyev’s the valuable research entitled “Realities of Azerbaijanis’ genocide” and read out some episodes disclosing the anatomy of bloody tragedy of 20 January, 1990. The participants of the event were given copies of the book.
