Current plan of missile defense deployment in Caucasus is absolute puzzle

Director of Russia’s Center for Post-Soviet Studies Alexei Vlasov commented on a statement that U.S. will deploy new missile defense system not in the Czech Republic and Poland, but closer to the Caucasus.
“There is actually more questions than answers, because information about the new missile appeared in the media in a way that is still not clear which interpretation of the message by the White House is true. Moreover, I do not understand whether leakage of information even before the State Department formally announced its intention to modify new strategy of deploying missile defense in Europe was inadvertent or deliberate,” Vlasov said.

“I think it is early to say unequivocal that deployment of missile defense system in Eastern European will be facing in the direction of the Caucasus by 2015. Former plan of deploying was evident even in details, analysts, experts wrote about it repeatedly and it is widely discussed. The current plan, objectively speaking, is a solid mystery. This very premature to give clear and explicit comments about it,” the political expert said.
