Survey held among citizens faced captivity and hostage “Hesret Yolu” Public Association for assistance to captives and hostages arranged round table on November 24 regarding results of survey held from August 22 to November 22 of the current year in the framework of the project entitled “protection of rights of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic according to the local legislation and norms of the international law who were captivated and taken hostages during Armenian-Azerbaijan, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and released afterwards”, AzerTAg informs.
Chairman of “Hesret Yolu” Public Association for assistance to captives and hostages, Esmira Orujova stated that the main aim of the project, held with the financial support of the Council of State Assistance to NGOs under the AR President, was to learn deeply the problems of our citizens who were captivated and taken hostages during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and released afterwards, to inform the international organizations functioning in our country about this issue and to protect their rights in the international courts.
E.Orujova emphasized that the survey was held among 208 people who were released from captivity and live in Baku and its surrounding districts, Beylagan and Shaki regions. Materials regarding tortures, insult and other facts they underwent by Armenians were gathered during survey. If the second part of the project is adopted by the Council of State Assistance to NGOs, international conference would be held as well.
MPs Ganira Pashayeva and Fazil Mustafayev talked about importance of the project, necessity of state’s support connected with these works and necessity of translating the materials into foreign languages.
Discussions were held at the event and proposals were made.
